Wings for Widows offers scholarships to Financial Peace University. This is a nine-week course that provides the basics in personal finance, especially budgeting and debt management.
Dave Ramsey, a well-known financial author, speaker and popular syndicated radio program host, founded Financial Peace University (FPU). FPU is an integrative program that involves live classes, small group discussions, video teaching, a book and other tools. You have the option of self-guided study or enrolling with a local group. We recommend joining a group, facilitated by a Ramsey-trained financial counselor, because you’ll be more likely to stick with it. The program runs nine weeks consecutively – about 90 minutes each week – and is typically offered through a local church.
In this course, you learn the “baby steps” in the first four weeks – creating an emergency fund, managing debt, budgeting, understanding cash flow and the power of saving. These are the essential basics of successful money management. In the following five weeks you’ll learn how to navigate spending, insurance, investing, real estate and charitable giving.
