Kenneth VanHouten

I am a Certified Financial Planner™ professional and the founder of an independent financial planning firm based in Indiana. My work is centered on helping individuals and families make confident financial decisions during moments that feel uncertain, overwhelming, or life-altering. Before entering financial services, I served in the U.S. Army. That experience shaped how I approach planning today: with discipline, clarity, and an understanding that good decisions are rarely made under pressure without structure and support. In my practice, I focus less on products and more on education—helping people understand their options, tradeoffs, and next best steps so they can move forward with confidence. I work with clients across many life stages, but some of the most meaningful conversations happen during transition: retirement, business changes, loss, or major shifts in family dynamics. In those moments, financial decisions are rarely just financial. They are emotional, personal, and deeply tied to values and priorities. My role is to create space for thoughtful decision-making, not to rush outcomes. I believe financial planning should meet people where they are. That means listening first, simplifying complexity, and providing guidance that respects both the numbers and the human side of loss and change. I am particularly drawn to pro bono work because it removes barriers and allows planning to serve as a form of care, not commerce. Outside of work, I am a husband, father, and small-business owner. I value community involvement and believe strongly in service that is quiet, intentional, and centered on helping others regain their footing. I am honored to support Wings for Widows and the important work they do for women navigating one of life’s most difficult seasons.
